is there a way to tell if your engine has been rebuilt previously

the previous owner of my lude claimed the engine was rebuilt. i guess since i bought the car anyway it doesnt matter but i was wondering if there was a sure way to tell if a rebuild or any major work has been performed. odometer reads 160k. oil remains at the top hole on the stick in between oil changes. but i dont know if that could just be good luck. engine is h22a1

If your oil stays at the top between oil changes, that's pretty good. :-D

i always thought preludes burned oil by the time theyre at 160k so i figured he was being straight up. i dont really know of any other way to tell if its been done. but i guess if compression is good, its quiet and doesnt burn oil then i shouldnt ask questions lol

you can ask for a receipt or "proof of rebuild"

When I bought my si the guy said the engine was rebuilt. I didn't believe him because he had no proof whatsoever.
