First off..... I thought I wanted a 5th gen when I was searching for a new car. I didn't test drive the 5th gen cause I didn't want to drop 20+ on a car. I did like the interior and exterior styling until I saw my car.
THE TEST DRIVE:
I scared the dealer. I told him I was looking for another sports car and that would be the third in line Prelude since I previously owned a 3rd gen. I tried the, " 3rd gear at 60 and punch it for VTEC" to see what it was like. I was impressed cause I drive a SI and that was my first PRELUDE VTEC experience. I didn't want my first time to be bad did I?? That's why I drove the S2K first.
INTERIOR: I didn't like the 5th gen interior as much as mine. I think you would get better stereo imaging from the placement of the tweeters but who buys a car for stereo? There was tons more head room and rear seat room. The AC was colder. I liked the look through sun roof.
EXTERIOR: I still love the looks of the 5th gen. Especially with the OEM kit. I saw one at the casino Friday night and drooled.
ACCELLERATION and HANDLING: The front end felt heavy to me. I didn't like the response as opposed to my car. VTEC was awesome. The dealer said he didn't know that car would do that. Makes me want VTEC bad
My Car: I wouldn't trade my car for the 5th gen. I love the lines of the exterior and interior. I love the looks I get when I drive through town. All in all I guess I am just happy that I got my car instead of the 5th gen.
I don't want a war of 5th gen vs. 4th gen is better. Cause I know my opinion and that is what this thread is about. Just wanted to express my feelings about the 4th gen Prelude. I'm glad that is the Prelude I drive.

I drove in a 5th Gen for the first time last week. It was an automatic though so it blew and I was definitely not impressed by the manumatic it had. The guy would press the lever to shift but it would take about a second for the transmission to actually change gears. It was almost like you had to guess when the best time to shift would be.
Although, I liked the interior I will never get used to the exterior. They do look a lot better with kits and lowering but I almost cried the first time I saw a 5th gen because I thought it looked so ugly. I am obsessed with the smooth lines of the 4th gen and that is the main reason I fell in love with the Prelude in the first place and it is how I will always invision them.
Oh yea. Like in the 4th gen when you are sitting in the Pilot seat and you can reach back and change the bulb for the third brake light. In the 5th gen the lining is quite a bit farther back. There was more head room and felt more open in the front seat. I didn't get in the back but the dealer sat in the back and could actually fit his feet in the floor boards.
I just wish we had their cool little antennas and I would like to be able to look through my sunroof, you know? But other than that, I would never trade my 4th gen in for one.

I haven't driven a 5th gen, but I like the look of Andy Delvards Type S, but not enough to buy one
As for the performance of his to mine, the last time we were both out in our cars we were side by side at about 30 mph in 2nd gear then both floored it. The result? He couldn't pass me
