Temperature guage stays cold...

Just got my car back from the transmission place (Don't go to AAMCO!) from them fixing a noise that turned out to be them installing a bad bearing... Anyways.. My car's water pump has been leaking a lot the last month or so... And I haven't filled the coolant for about three weeks before I took it back into the [tranny] shop. Anyways, I was driving around a bit today and noticed that the temperature guage didn't rise past the first mark. It stayed at the coldest rating that the electro-luminescent guages give. Any suggestions? I filled the coolant when I got home and am just curious what to expect. To replace is like 470 bucks, so I'm prolonging things a bit.

That can happen when your coolant level gets too low. Your engine will actually run hotter though, so you should get it fixed A.S.A.P.

Refilled completely full in the reservoir and tank- of coolant- and today the temperature guage still does not rise.. Temperary problem or something possibly damaging?
