Helpful info: Back in early 09' i purchased this car with the temp. and gas/fuel gauges not working (when the lights were turned on, the gauges resumed to be black). I was unable to see my gas and temperature level. I took it out and noticed the circuit board had some irregularities. Some circuit connections were BURNT!

I soon went to a local junk yard and bought another one...making sure the circuit board was fine. After installation, all gauges turned out to work.

Today, Jan 26 2010, I was driving home and i smelled something burning coming from somewhere in my car. I ignored it and kept driving. After a mile, the smell came back but it was stronger and smoke was coming out of the dash...OBVIOUSLY I already knew what had happened. Especially when my guages stop showing its colors.

I have read some threads about this problem back in '09 but was wondering WHAT CAUSES THE 4TH GEN PRELUDE'S TEMPERATURE AND GAS GAUGES TO BURN OUT???

My car is NOT overheating.

Please any answers and questions will help!
The only choice I have is to buy another one but I want to educate myself of the cause so it can be avoided.
Thank You in advance!

Ok so I have a 93 Prelude, and the Voltage regulator on the gas/temp guage curcuit board keeps blowing. The regulator only shorts out while the is running, not while the key is switched to accesory. I replaced theVoltage Regulator and let the car sit for 2 hrs with the key on and not running. 5 minutes after I ran the car it blew. Does anyone know why this might be happening
