I just finished installing my Tein SS coil overs. I have a few questions.
1. I tightened them by moving the top ring to where it's supposed to be and then moving the bottom ring up next to that and moving it THE SAME DIRECTION as I moved the top one.
1a. In the instructions they show a picture of both wrenches facing the opposite direction. That's why I ask.
2. In the front I had to unbolt the brake lines. What am I supposed to do with them now? Do you just leave them hanging there? A test of turning the wheel showed that it wouldn't get wrapped up, but I'm concerned.
3. Do I need to go get an alignment now? I have it set to the manual specs of 40mm up from the bottom. It appears lower, about 2 1/2 finger gap but I hear that they have to settle.
Thanks for the help! Here's a pic for you pic lovers (like me!)
I have the tein basics and i just have the brake lines hanging there, i have had them on for about a month and i have checked them a couple of times and they do not get tangled. when you move the rings next to each other, i tighted it down by moving the top ring down while moving the bottom ring up, til it was tight. You will probably want to get an allignment also once the springs settle.
I would let the springs settle for at least 2-3 weeks before getting an alignment. Make sure it is right where you want it(height wise) before you get it aligned. You should always get an alignment when you mess with suspension parts.
Thanks for the help. I'll retighten them the proper way when I get home and start driving it to let the springs settle! I thought I shouldn't drive it before getting an alignment.
Pics of the whole car? Well, here's one before I lowered it. I haven't done anything to the outside yet...you may have seen my grey-black interrior conversion.
i just zip tied the brake line bracket to the knuckle i think...holds just as good...just look where you can strap a zip tie on there...it's not hard! It's better to have everything secure!
about the wrenches thing...when you are adjusting it..they go the same way...when you are finished adjusting and you want to secure it, that's when use the wrenches in opposite directions!
hope that helps

I agree. I just used the zip-tie method, and it's worked for years.

Yeah dude, you can just zip tie the brake lines to the knuckle. My friend with an ITR running Buddy Club coilovers used zip ties and absolutely no problems. About locking the collars together, just turn them in opposite directions when they are together to tighten them into place.
Gawd...you guys are making me want to get some Teins more by the day...GRrrrrrr....must resist for now.

you won't regret buying these...you don't need anything else for a daily driver, i never have them on full stiff, cause you don't need nothing that stiff for the street!

Yeah, before my front end problems started, I was having fun w/ a VERY stiff setup, but now I realized that when you're riding around on a very stiff setup, it'll end up causing nothing but problems.
