You are gonna have to modify the baskets in order to fit those speakers.
Just buy some spacers for those speakers... they should pop right in w/ the right-sized spacers... worked for me!

if you modify the brasket by cutting away the rear piece, could water seep into the speakers?

That's a good question.. I would like to know too! Also, to 6.5's in the rear, 5 1/4 in the door (but 6.5's will fit easily apparently?), and what size are the tweeters (how big can the tweeters be)?

The baskets are not water tight even if you don't modify them. That isn't a very high traffic spot for water so I wouldn't worry about it.

You can fit 6.5s in the rear with a little modification. You just need to measure the mounting depth to make sure it won't hit your trunk springs. You will have a hard time fitting 6.5 components up front but coax should usually fit. The stock tweets are crap and you can stick any kind of tweet back there due to the massive amounts of room

You can buy cheap foam baffles for the speakers if you are worried about water damage.

I have 6.5 componets in the door and it fits great. A custom mounting bracket was made to replace the speaker basket. I had the tweeters mounted on the end of the plastic piece that has the window and door lock switch.

No problem!
I didn't need them anyways I guess, no tricky or hidden screws, easier then removing the door panel of my old 3rd gen or my old Teg.

Thanks alot for the FAQ
