Tachometer wont work please help

ok so i have a 94 prelude si w/ jdm h22, tach whent out after swap. so heres whats happening i turn my key one click to let the fuel pump prime and the tach goes up to about 1200 then i start the car and it stays there and is obviously not working i can get it vtec to crack and the tach will jump and act like its working but my gears are way to short im doing 40 mph at like 7k(i think thats what it is it jumps to 7 and stays there untill i shift but i dont like revingit passed that really) in 2nd gear

what i have done so far
new coil
new distibuter
could it be plugs and wires??? causing this much hassel


so please any help would be huge and if any has had this problem please help my h22 is not ats full potientel and would get beat by my old h23 the way it right now help.

it sounds like an electrical problem with the tach wire. check the ground at the tach. if it worked in your h23, then I would assume the distributor is fine. it could be the ignitor. It sounds to me like you have the tach wire crossed with something. are you using your h23 distributor?

no i have a brand new distributer wheres the tach wire located do you have any pics?

oops - I skipped right over that part. If the car runs and the tach doesn't work, I highly doubt it's the plugs/wires. Is it OEM USDM distributor/coil? Or did you convert a JDM to work with USDM?

its usdm coild and distrtibuter and both are brand new. i really think its my tach ground wire do you where thats located????
