Tachometer Problem.

as some of you now im about to buy a 4th gen for $1,000. The tachometer however is not working. but the speedometer works fine.

whats it most-likely the cause for this to happen? is there a plug to look for in particular besides behind the cluster? could it be the a bad VSS?
