tach and speedometer problems

today i went to put ot my carbon fiber trim kit which came with the piece that goes around the tach and speedometer gauges. i pryed the needles off so i could get everything centered perfectly. put the needles back on and this **** starts happening. tach stays at 0 until i hit about 2000 then jumps up really fast and rev limiter kicks in about 5500 (according to the tach). also speedometer says im going about 60-65 when im cruising about 40 and it jumps around kinda weird too. has anyone else ever taken their needles off and had this happen? any way to fix this other than new cluster? thanks in advance for any input.

damn..you should have definitely read up on this before you went for it man.. you probably really screwed your cluster up. you are NOT supposed to take off the needles for any reason... if your lucky they can be recaliberated, if not then you'll need a new cluster

yeah....blue bb6 is right, you shouldn't taken your needles off for anything! i learned that the hard way when i put my gages on the first time. BIG MISTAKE! your best bet now is to go to a junk yard and get yourself a new cluster man or you can try and play with the needles but you'll have better luck getting a new one..sorry but good luck! =(
