i know im new here, and to the prelude car, and i have to say that all you guys responding to threads with "do a search" and "google it" are dumb, ignorant and wasting everbodies time. If you take the time to respond, and really know something, share it.

if you cant offer any info yourself, just dont respond, everybody knows about google and searching.

it is fine to make the change, at any mileage. Some people say it may cause leaks or more oil consumtion, and some say it may not, it might just depend on the car, and how and where you drive it.

It wont hurt anything to try it, just keep an eye out for leaks and monitor your oil level regularly.

I got my Lude with 140k and swithed to Q horsepower synthetic, but i only drive it in races on a dirt track, NO LEAKS OR OIL CONSUMPTION

I know where you're coming from DIRT RACER but you have to also agree with Qveon. He's not trying to be an a$$. I know you took the time to answer the question, even when the question is debatable and pretty much comes down to opinion but what if someone asks the same question later on tonight? Tomorrow? Next week? Next month? Next year? Five years from now? Every single day for 10 years? Will you take the time to state your opinion and the facts to every single person with this question pertaining to cars in general?
When you could simply state " google it" and that ends that debate.

^well is kind of is when it comes to topics like this. It has been discussed numerious times and isn't like its strictly limited to preludes.

Bob Is The Oil Guy <---great resource.

Yes this forum is for discussion but searching for something this common isn't too hard to ask.

Like Dirt Racer said try it and keep an eye on your oil level. The ideal time to switch is right after break in like under 10000 miles. Your rings wear out a little quicker with conventional oil and if you switch later in life the synthetic which is slicker it will pass through the rings easier then normal. Try it tho if your oil level stays normal after 2 or 3k miles then your golden. If your burning it then it isnt at all worth it to switch. Maybe try a semi syn or just go back to conventional. I had 300k on my old civic with conventional and I have 235k on my 4runner so really it doesnt make that big of a difference in the long run. And dont listen to the people that say you cant switch back and fourth because you can.

First is "condescending". Next its condescending to the forums to not read up on the topic before asking. To have a discussion, first you have to pick a side and have a hypothesis on what you want to happen. Example in your case:

"I want to run ful-syn oil this oil change, but i am worried about leftover dino oil mixed in not being compatible, anyone experience any issues?"

That starts a debate AND asks for suggestions, opinions and experiences with changing types of oil. Or Maybe:

"I want to run ful-syn, but i am not sure why. Why do you guys use it?"

Then you get an answer like. "Because ful-syn doesnt break down in great heat as easily." Gotta have it using my JRSC. cause it turns dino oil black in about 1 autocross day. Ask the turbo guys about oil break down.

Cliff notes tip: Any time you ask a question about doing something that has been done, 90% of the time you're answer will be "search". Anytime you ask an opinion or for experiences, 25% you're answer will be search.

Gosh, MY problem is when new people come on here and start attacking the regulars..
If someone says "search" it's usually not that they don't wanna answer, its that they know it's easy to turn up results..
Its not really smart to get on here and start calling people dumb.. it slims down your chances of EVER getting any help in threads you may make in the future.
As the old adage goes: you catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar.
