Switching mufflers

Hmm, I bought my new Prelude with a pos universal muffler on it with NO catback. How would I get the muffler off and put a stock one back on? Do I have to cut the aftermarket one off?

Thanks!

If there are no flanges then your gonna have to cut it off and weld another one on.

when the universal muffler was put on, most likely they just cut off the stock one and welded the universal one on. You could unbolt the piping from the axle back, and then, if you can get a stock muffler with the piping to the flange at the axle, you can just bolt it back up.

Otherwise, you will have to get it welded. No big deal really, a muffler shop shouldn't charge you more than $10.

if they are charging you more than $10 for the 5 minutes or less it takes to do one weld around an exhaust pipe, then you are getting ripped off.

The $10 does not include a stock muffler... he'll have to get that for himself.
