swapping 96 center console

today I went to the junkyard and picked up the center console and rear seat piece from a wrecked 96si to swap into my 92. I noticed that the parking brake is mounted in a different spot, but from the diagrams on hondaautomotiveparts the two pieces look exactly the same. has anyone else done this swap or know what the process is to move the e-brake handle? the hazards button is different too, will my wire just snap in to the bracket on the new button?

I know to the ebrake mount has to be removed and then re-welded into place, there are a few people who have done this. The welding sounds scary, but a machine shop should e able to do it for cheap. The console changed in 94.

I would guess that if you had everything figured out (like where to reweld it, already had the old console off, new console ready to go in) maybe $50-75 bucks. Some performance shops might be able to do the welding, or a muffler shop if you are desperate.

the 94-96 console does have a storage compartment in between the front seats. with my old one, it divides up my entire rear seat room and really limits the size of things you can put back there. so in answer to your question, i'm really getting more storage room by swapping the consoles. plus it makes it easier to fit someone in the back seat, which does happen from time to time.

i'll trade the old console for your rear 6x9 center speaker piece, or like $40 plus shipping. i'm not doing the swap until after new years though.

I will give you the console piece but it is primed and smoothed right now because I was going to paint it black after I smoothed it. If you want, I can paint it whatever color you want and then we can trade!

mine is black also! This is what I was doing with the entire interior:

I painted it the same color as the car! What color do you want it? Also, the steps I took was to take out the grill piece for the speaker and then I put about 2 or 3 coats of primer on it and then I sanded it with 600 grit sandpaper, then primed and sanded, primed and sanded, etc. until the whole thing was smooth. I just haven't painted it yet. Let me know if you wanna do this.

BTW, are you gonna send the whole console and the piece that I am trading you for? Not the shifter part, but the glove box part.
