Swap Question?

I am swaping my JDM H22 in my 92 Si and I was wondering would the H23 Down pipe bolt up to the H22 stock header?

No it doesn't, I've tried it. You'll need a complete H22 header with downpipe

did you not get the downpipe with your swap ? alot of people seem to be complaining bout that happening ....luckily i got everything i needed and extra parts i didnt from hmotorsonline...good luck finding one though might be easier to just buy a performance header if you have to pay extra at least get something nice you know ...

You NEED a H22 downpipe. the H22 downpipe will NOT bolt to the stock Si exhaust.

if you get the h22 downpipe you can just weld the flange from the Si downpipe to fit it, if nothing else just temporarly.

I just elongated the holes on the H22 downpipe flange with an oxy/acy torch. The problem you run into is that the bolts on the H22 cat are spaced farther out from the center than the H23's cat. I have no idea why though, the ID of both downpipes is identical

I want to verify about this exhaust problem. To do a H22a swap on an Si, a whole new exhaust is needed -Otherwise it will be a poorly connected exhaust, is this right. I want to verify this because that is about an extra grand that would be needed for the swap(header, cat, catback).

No. To do an H22 swap into an Si, you need to do one of the follwing:

1) acquire an H22 downpipe (sometimes included with engine), and have the cat flange from your H23 downpipe welded in place of the H22 flange. Most exhust shops will probably do this for less than $50.

2) acquire an H22 downpipe, and modify the flange to meet up up with the cat studs. You can do this with a torch or drill.

3) buy a VTEC Header, new cat, and exhaust system. Cost: $500-1000+.

mwthods one and two will allow you to use your H23 cat and exhaust system.
