swap jdm H22a into 96 h23a1 headache

My 96 prelude has been a treat up until three weeks ago the when the timing belt jumped and seized the engine, so i went and ordered a jdm h22a every forum i read says it will fit just fine, just few minor wiring tricks to get her up and running again. I got a call from my mechanic saying that it wont fit in my car for some reason. Im at a complete loss im not to car savvy. Any help would be more than helpful thanks!
this is the engine i ordered

your car is obd2, the engine you ordered is obd1.

I understand that its an obd1 but theres many guides to get it working in my car, but my mechanic says the engine wont fit in my car, but everything ive read says it will just drop right in, he didnt specify if it was to big or to small all he said is it wont fit, any help would be great.

ok, now I understand better. I, too, once had a 'Honda specialty shop' in the area tell me the same thing, until I explained that the only differences are the vtec solenoid and oil pressure switch wires on the distributor side of the head.

You must re-use your h23a1 (obd2) harness on the h22a1, then hook up the other two or three wires (maybe three including a ground) for the vtec goodness. On second thought, there are some differences in the sensors for the obd2 motor, but it's not major.

He probably just doesn't want to mess with it - it's not as straightforward as a obd2-obd2 or obd1-obd1 swap. Check out the following links - I don't have time to look at them before work:

No no no not the wiring, i have a 96 prelude si h23a1 and had ordered that jdm h22a got to my mechanic and he says he cant put in my car do to mechanical differences that wont allow the engine to fit within the car or match up, he mentioned something of the header or head. I need to know if that engine is the correct one, because i read everywhere that it will drop in just the same as if i was to put in another h23a1 (except the wiring changes with the h22a).

Tell your mechanic he's an idiot and find a new shop.
