Suspension worn out?

okay, i have a 93 Si. Completely stock suspension. I am about to roll over 180,000 miles and the ride is getting rough. its not as tight as it was this time last year and just doesnt ride as smooth. I was wondering if the suspension had just worn out. The steering has also seemed loose for the past few years as well. Do I need to replace the bushings?

I was considering getting the KYB GR2 Gas shocks as just a replacement and if I need to do the bushings I was going to get the energy suspension bushings kit.

Thanks,
JM

You'd need to inspect the bushings before you'll know if they need replacement. But it does sound like your shocks are gone.

as far as the steering goes....it just seems like the steering is loose and "easy to turn" compared to the other preludes that i have driven

I've had those on my Lude for almost 3 years now. No complaints!

new boots arent needed unless ur stock ones are torn...get underneath your car and take a quick peek at the boots to see if they are in ok condition...depending on the cost of the boots, u might as well just get new ones since u are already in there changing out the struts...it would suck to have to change em later on...

Stock mounts are reusable, and the stock dust boots shouldn't be a problem for you if you're going with the GR2s. You could only need to modify them or discard them if you're going with stiffer dampers like Konis since the shaft on those dampers are larger than stock.

If you don't go with the GR2s, then I recommend looking into the Tokico HP

I just ordered the GR2s. It seemed like a good choice for me right now. I am still at stock ride height and want a stock feel, maybe a little stiffer and that's what I think the GR2s will deliver. It looks like they are coming from OH which means I should have them on Thursday if they are shipped on Tuesday and they should go on Friday or Saturday and then I'll get an alignment. I'll let yall know about how it goes.

this is probably late, but the hondas that i have had 3 of them, all had cracked front springs at various mileages. so you might want to check that too. Its always the first 1 or 2 coils at the bottom too.
