Suspension and Brake project completed w/pics {no 56k}(4/11/03)

Ok I finally got everything installed. First off I installed Energy Suspension Urethane bushing kit, rear trailing arm kit, and sway bar bushings. Then I painted all my suspension arms and sway bars red. I also installed SPC adjustable ball joints. I then painted my NSX Calipers flat black with red letters. See what you guys think.

Rear trailing arm bushing differences.

I have a supplier that I can get a good price on. No all the bushings are energy suspension.

JT, what kind of press do you use to press out the old bushings? I'm starting to look into more tools for my project.

When we did a friends bushing install, TWO machine shops told us it was way too much trouble to press the bushings out. Best tools: hammer, torch, hacksaw, and some drifts.

We have a machine shop and have some very heavy duty hydraulic presses. It's easy to press them out if you have a press, I don't know what was the problem with those two shops, I pressed most of them out myself and it was the first time I had ever used the press. I am going to bleed the lines tonight and finish torquing everything then I'll check for clearence. I did talk to a SPC rep and he said he hasn't heard of any probs with them. I can tell the rear isn't going to hit, but not sure of the front yet.

A drift is kinda like a chisel, only not as sharp and a lot stronger. They come in a few different tip shapes. Think "miniture railroad spike", mainly used for beating the piss outta things.

Jesus... I don't have a 2nd car to drive to shops to press the bushings out for me. I was hoping I'd be able to do it on my own. Whutta PITA.

You can do it on your own, its just not fun. If you have a nice bench mounted vice and a good hacksaw, its not tooooo bad. . .it just gets frustrating when you realize how many bushings there are left to do.

You could probably do it in a day or two if you didn't paint everything like I did. But trust me find someone to press them out for you. One of my bushings I had to use a 10 ton hydraulic press to get it out.

Hey are you the one I got the springs from??

I got it all put back together today and had a few problems getting it down. I finally got it though. I took it for a short drive to the shop so I can get it aligned (alignment is way out of whack, which is to be expected). I love the way it feels when I hit a bump it hits and nothing, no bounce no recoil, nothing, just hits and keeps going. My only concern is it might be too low once I put my RS kit on, but I'll worry about that later.

Any update on how the fronts fit while lowered? Looks like it's better to just find a shop and have them press the bushings out. Any clue how much I can expect to pay for that?
