Make sure all your small hoses are connected, my car did that at first until I noticed I forgot to connect one, any air that gets into your manifold after the throttle body is gonna make your engine do that

funny, i did the same thing, and have the same exact problems, when the AC is on it goes at high as 1500, then down to 500. have you figured it out yet? also ludedude, have you noticed your h22 running hotter then your old engine?

I would check the IACV valve. It is responsible for delivering more air. I'm not sure if it will fit but try swapping one from your old motor.

Does anyone of you have spare h22 injectors? I'v been having some sever hesitation with my car and want to send my injectors for cleaning. I would like to use them temporary. We can work something out...

there have been alot of posts on this subject for the last month. Most of them by me. I dont wana be an ass but do a search on it. Im starting to sound like a broken record posting about the same problem. ALmost all JDM swaps start with this problem.

your fast idler valve is shot. they go out, no big deal. hit up your local auto-parts store and get some of that quick steel stuff. remove your air filter hose from the throttle body and look inside the throttle body. to the left(twards the firewall) you will see two holes. the top hole is for your TPS (throttle position sensor) the other is for the Fast Idler Valve. You want to fill this hole with the quick steel. Throw the intake tube back on, let it sit for 5 minutes or so and then start the car up and let it idle. problem will be fixed. while your at it, you can re-route the coolant lines so you have less heat going to your intake manifold/throttle body. This is very easy to fix, I did it to both my h23a1 and my jdm h22a and it worked 100% and problem free.

When your fast idler goes out, the idle will surge .. go to say 1500 rpm and then drop down to 800 then back up to 1500 and then back to 800 ... plug this hole and it will bypass the fast idler. no more surge, just a nice smooth idle.
