Sunroof issue

My sunroof makes a popping noise whenever I open it. It's a real loud snap sound. Also, it doesn't look like it closes completely. The back side is just a tad higher than the roof (the rubber moulding).

Anyone know what it could be? Man, I'm having all kinds of crap go wrong

My sunroof doesn't suck down either. It sticks up higher in the back. So does my friends 4G.

When it pops.... does it keep popping or is it just once?

yeah, same thing happened to mine. a spring popped off and was stuck in the tracks. I took it out, and no problems since then. mine still closes all the way and i took that spring out over 2 years ago.

Yep the same thing with me, open it and check on the sides and see if you have a loose spring. Seems to be a really common problem with 4th gen sunroofs.

i had this problem last summer. when i was opening my sunroof i heard a loud pop noise and when i went to close the it... it wouldn't close all the way (about half way). So i went to a friends house later that night and found out the spring (thats was connects to one of the arms of the sunroof track) popped off and was laying in the middle of the track. We figured the reason it popped off because the the track has never been lubricated since i bought the car. But at least taking the sunroof off isn't to hard. Took us about and hr to take off, put spring back, lub, and put back together. Much quieter when closing/opening now.

I need to replace my sunroof panel, it's starting to rust around the edges a little. Anyone have a guide to removing it??

Sigh, I just checked the tracks and found nothing getting in the way. It only pops when it first opens...then it's normal when it slides back. Also, sometimes it will not close (about three quarters of an inch raised from the roof) and sometimes it will (about a quarter of an inch from the roof). It seems lubricated also.

The pop is coming from the driver's side.
