Sunroof

Okay so I finally got a sunroof to make my OEM fitment CF replica and I have a problem...

I the entire sunroof INCLUDING the motor and that mounting assembly...

I looked at the removal instructions and it talks about opening the sunroof partially to get to the screws/bolts...given that I have the entire thing off and it's closed...is there any way to get the panel off without running some sort of power source to the sunroof?

the manual talks about opening it to get to the bolts because you can't get to them when it is closed.

I certianly believe you can get to the bolts with the thing out.

piss! I can't open it to get to those screws!

I suppose i could just hack off the carboard backing to get directly to the bolts.

*goes and gets utility knife to perform surgery of sunroof bottom

There should be a manual crank hole in the motor. You can close the roof if there is no power in the car by getting the sunroof wrench out of the tool kit, pulling out the little plug in the rear headliner, and cranking it closed.

Yes, there is some plugged hole in the roof (sit in the rear and look up, you will see it). Remove the plug and you can rotate the motor.

like i said the entire assembly is out of the car...

right on dudes! I just looked at it and I see where I can stick the allen key to crank it open.

This is a 100% functional replacement. Not a plug. It can be a plug if you want it to, you'd just have to request it that way so I would leave extra flanges on it. I'll post pics when I have something ready.

probably around $350 but it's 2 molds so maybe more. Beats buying a new panel and painting it though.

Question for you guys: you don't want to re-attach that grey carboard piece do you? You just want it bolted it and the seal to go on, you'd rather look at the CF right?

I'm curious as to why the **** you are starting new projects when you haven't finished old ones yet.

I was just composing an e-mail about that today. I've decided the current fog trim mold is a lost cause, I have learned fog trims in their OEM form are very difficult to replicate and keep a good weave and finish properly (due to the recessed screw placement and the extra molding on the side. Came to the decisions after seeing 5-6 of them come back from painting this weekend. they sucked. So I either need to modifying the stock trims to make them easier to mold or can the whole project. Check your e-mail in an hour or so and you can make up your own mind. I don't really want to ship such a sub-par product.

-Joel

Starting new projects because I need to make new molds, including new fog trim molds. Since I'm not doing anything with the prelude products are only priority these days. Other than my real job

Nobody answered my question:

Do you want to mount that ugly grey carboard cover back on the CF sunroof? It will play into how I design the back frame.
