Sun roof/moon roof conversions???

I was wondering if anybody might have looked into or have actually converted the sunroof to glass instead of the stock hardtop. i think it would look soo much slicker. so anyone know anything on this subject or any other cool conversions?

Yes it's been done. Search for the 5th gen or glass sunroof.

Yep, it's been done. looks pretty cool.
wish i could help you more, but havent done it myself. though there was a thread on this not too long ago, a bit of digging should bring it up. not too far back.

it's pretty easy, and clean. I'm in the process of actually retrofitting the 5th gen parts to the 4th gen assembly to fit the cover. we'll see how that goes.

5g sunroof conversion - NTPOG Forums

Here is another write up of just the glass swap.

The problem with the complete 5th gen assembly going in the 4th gen, is it's about a half inch thicker and makes the headliner hang lower. You also have to create a bracket of some sort to make the rear headliner fit. Plus the rear brake light looks pretty bad to me. I'm trying to swap some parts over to see if it's doable that way.

When I did my swap I ended up using my sliders and my brackets, and you are right about the headliner it does hang down a bit. I still have have my stock, so I'm going to try and do the same thing as you, but I dont want just the glass, I want the sun shade too. There is alot of cutting and grinding to make the 5th gen fit and it doesnt even fit nicely. If you use your 4th gen mounting brackets you will still have to make the holes bigger. Well good luck and keep me posted.

I don't have the topmount brake light in mine. I'm trying to get a hold of the 5th gen sunroof, and I'l be able to see what's needed to be modified and whatnot.

mine sits just fine (from the NTPOG write-up), just need to get the 3rd brake light to use as the motor cover (see 2nd pic)

Depends on what day it is. There's no guarantee that I care, even then.
