Suggestions of performance modifications on my 92 prelude si?
Hi I'm new to this site. I have a 92 prelude si automatic with 164,000 miles on it. It runs pretty good. The only thing I could complain about is that in the cold weather my belts squeal until they warm up. Anyways, I don't really know how to do anything myself to a car. So could anyone make some suggestions on how I can gain some horsepower. Maybe a cold air intake or new headers? I am willing to spend maybe no more than $800. I also have a custom exhaust in my garage that came with my car when I bought it. It's called "Ractive". Could this give me any hp gains?
get this put it on, i dont think it would be hard, look at it, there arent that many parts to assemble. Its a little over your 800 but it capable of 200-475 hp. think about it, let me know how it goes.
A turbo would be nice... but I'm not capable of doing anything like that on my own. I don't even know how to change my own oil...yet. What would a mechanic charge to install that? And wouldn't I need to get some other things too just so the car can handle all that hp? And is this a good turbo compared to other stuff out there?

No offense, but that is really terrible advice. Unless you have actually used this kit, please don't tell others to use it. This kit is not a bolt-on kit, there is fabrication required to make it work. The only thing Ebay is good for are intakes.
monoxide16: I think you should basically start spending some wrench time on your car if you are interested in cars. That's how I did it. Start simple, move up to more complicated stuff. If you aren't interested in doing your own work, then I would suggest not modding your engine (or at least stick to the really simple stuff). If you are ready to start reading : N/A Performance Library (README!)

Just stick with the basics first. intake/header/exhaust. You're gonna have headaches dealing with a turbo setup if you aren't even familiar with the basics of your car even if you have a shop install it for you.

Unless you're willing to learn how to do stuff yourself, don't bother. I'm going through the same pains myself, but the best way to get it done is to do it yourself...you also save lots of $$$ that way!!!
