stupid emmisions tests

i live in md and every 2 years you gotta get an emmisions test which sucks to begin with. but now they do this thing where they connect a wire to the obd thingy in your car. which is also fine i guess cause it dont gotta go on a tred mill. but these assgoblins dont even know where the hook up for it is so they pull a bunch of my dash apart and started to pry at stuff with their keys then they tell me that the hook up is covered up and they cant test it so they are just gonna let me pass as a favor. aint that some **** the tear up my dash, dont put it back right, and charge me $14 to do it and their doing me a favor not to metion the time i had to sit in line to wait for them to do all this. SO I SAY F**K THE ENVIRONMENT I DINT LIKE IT ANYWAYS

Also i have a 96 si does anyone even know where the hook up is for that obd thing? so i can tell them next time

Now that is a really stupid idea, what the hell's wrong with measuring actual emmisions on a treadmill? Now you gotta worry about these retards messing up your interior. Edit, I think the one they were looking for is the grey connector next to the blue one I'm pointing to. You can actually get to it without taking apart the dash (from the rear.) The connectors "unclip" from the back and you can pull them out. I had to get a check engine code today so I took a pic.

Yeah, ever hear of CARB? California sucks for Smog stuff. Not only are they anal, they charge more than 14 bucks. It's more like 15 for the test, and another 10 or whatever for the certificate. It ends up being around 30.

The OBD2 connector is located under the cupholder.

Dangerlude,

I'm curious where you live in MD that they wanted to hook into your obd system. I live in Northern Maryland, and have never had them try to do that. I haven't owned an obdII system though, either.

Is yours OBDII, and what testing station did you go to? I'm in Frederick, MD and had emissions done on my car about 3 months ago.

92-96 are OBDI ..........the 97-00 ludes are OBDII.....so if he has a 4th gen then its OBDI unless he did a motor swap with 5th gen motor (H22A4)

please don't post information if you don't know what you're talking about. all ludes 96 and after are obdII, so his 96si is as well.

sorry, it just bothers me when people post inaccurate information on a technical forum like this without thinking about the consequences. maybe it didn't hurt anyone in this situation but what if he plans to do a h22 swap and needs an ecu... in that case the obd stuff would matter. and insulting me doesn't make your statement any less wrong.

I believe 95 had OBDII also? I'm not swapping in an h22, but I am building a low compression block for turbo.
