Strong smell of gas?

Hi,

I have a 1992 prelude but with a JDM 1995 H22a engine. I have DC headers, cat converter, and a apexi exhaust.

-The problem is the strong smell of gas when I start the car. It's continous as the smell won't go away even after I've driven it for awhile, it just lingers and its very very strong.

-The fuel smell is not coming from the enigne bay but from the rear end of the car. There is no gas smell inside the car. I use premium fuel.

-What could it be? Hole or leak in the exhuast pipes or cat converter? Fuel injectors? Air/fuel ratio? Fuel filter? O2/Oxygen sensor? Ignition timing?

Any help would be great! Thanks!

my pops told me a while back that usually if you smell gas like that in the car the fuel pump could be going bad and thats where it may be leaking, might wanna look at that.

But I hear it prime fine when I start the car. How do actually tell if it's going bad?

Did it always do this or did it start recently? Can you tell if the smell is coming from the exhaust or elsewhere?

How has your gas mileage been lately?

Hey,

It started a while ago (2 months) but I don't drive it very often. The smell is coming from the exhaust. No smell in the engine bay or inside the car. After I get out of the car I can smell it. The odor is very strong, its as if gas is just leaking somewhere.

Sometimes there is white smoke from the exhaust. This could mean it's running lean, and maybe the fuel pump is dying and causing the smell?

I have been searching around, could the the problem be with my EVAP system? The canister, solenoid valve, control diaphram valve, or the two-way valve??

pop open the cover to the fuel pump under the rear seat and see if the seal is leaking on the top of the gas tank, i know that was common on the older accords

The hiss is coming from the rear end of the car. Sounds like it is from the exhaust. I always thought it was normal until I found out it wasn't. Also below 3000 rpm, the car sounds funny (Wierd resonance). When I put a small amount of gas it's like I'am pushing air instead of fuel. The sound is basically airy/windy almost.
