Stock Muffler Problem

I had a muffler shop weld the stock muffler back on today, but from the cat back it was 2.25in piping. I thought it was stock piping....so my car still kinda sounds like the old rice muffler. :: This is because of the larger diameter piping, right?

Am I going to have to find some stock 2" piping from the cat back to make it normal?

TIA

my stock muffler sounds ricey... and so does my friends Si (moreso than mine).

My exhaust (stock) is about 8 months old with no leaks.

it should not because it's not a straight through. check for leaks. maybe not leak on muffler, but leak on all the gaskets between.

i dont mean like that... its not like buzzing... its just because the muffler IMHO is the worst designed muffler in the world. The sound is sooo incredibly hollow... imho that sounds ricey

The different diameter piping doesn't have an effect on the exhaust note? Also, the muffler was welded on to the 2.25" piping with an adapter. The only gaskets should be where it connects to the cat, right?

i really doubt 2.25 will make a big sound difference. gasket before and after the cat.

It turned out to be a leaking flex pipe. Cost me $65 to have a new one put on. Oh well, back to normal.

how did they put a new one on? my flex pipe was leaking too and I had to replace the whole header, because the flex pipe is part of the header. this was at meineke, they quoted me for a new header (you'd think they would give me the option to weld in a new flex piece if they could)

All the shop did was cut both ends of the flex pipe, pulled it off, and welded a brand new one on.
