stock lug nuts

hey guys, i had a simple question. i just switched out my aftermarket rims for my stock rims cuz its really salty on the roads and my aftermarket tires suck ass in the snow which i will be getting tons of snow. so now i have oem. but i had a question. what type of lug nuts do you need for the oem wheels? cuz with my aftermarket rims, i need cone seat lug nuts. but does the oem wheels require some different type of seating lug nuts? or is it the same ****?

since i know theres different prelude rims. heres a pic of em

The OEM and aftermarket rims both need different lug nuts. The OEM ones can be considered your "regular" lug nuts, while your aftermarket needs a special kind. If you can't find lug nuts for your OEM ones, you can get them online at hondautomotiveparts.com or slhonda.com.

As for torque...I think it should say in your door jam?

If not in the door jam, definitely in the owners manual.

just tighten them until you stand on it and they dont go anymore. lol. You're stock lug nuts are round on the inside of the lug night.

I used the same lug nuts for both sets of rims? Is there any potential harm that can be done by doing this?

Yes. I remember I asked the same question a while ago, either through PM or a thread. I forget which, but basically you can use the same lug nuts but it's not recommended. Maybe someone else could chime in with the reason why?

The only reason I can think of that it would be harmful to the aftermarket rim by putting the stock lug nuts on, is that they might rub up against the inside of the rim, depending on their configuration, over time scratching them and what not.

i looked in the owners manual and the door jam for the torque to tighten the bolts to, and i just cant find it! but vf1 says 80 so ill work with that. but 80 seems too loose...

my aftermarket lugs and stock lugs have the same seating style except that the aftermarket lugs are a very tiny bit smaller in diameter. and the acorn part, the one thats curved on the bottm, the stock ones are a tiny bit more rounded while the aftermarket ones are more straight.

i might just replace my lug nuts to be safe but im keeping my wheel locks.

Actually, 80 ft/lbs sounds about right.

You wouldn't want to overtighten the lugnuts because you'll either start stripping the threads inside the lugnut and/or start stripping the threads on the wheel stud.
