Stinky A/C?

Last week when I turned my A/C on it poured out this smell that burned my nose. It was almost like one of Bohl's bowel movements, but not as severe. With the A/C off and the fans blowing, there's no smell. The second I hit the button, though, the smell runs right back through the vents. My Dad said it could be mold building up on my A/C compressor but I see nothing (and don't understand how that could logically cause the air to smell) and it wasn't a slowly building smell...it was like a rank fart that hit out of nowhere and won't go away. What could this be?

do you keep your recirculation button on or no?

there is a chance something could have gotten in there, but then w/o A/C on it should still stink...

try a recharge...they are pretty cheap and it might help anyways

I just had a recharge a few months ago. Could it have already gotten low? It's still ice cold.

If it still smells while the fans are on A/C You may have mold, mildew or something dead in your Evap box. I did a heater unit in a lude that was sitting on a farm and in the evap box was a ****load of leaves and **** from a lil fukin mouse who i guess used to live in there. You might have some **** in there.

It doesn't smell when the fans are on. Only the A/C.

I ran the A/C full blast for about 10 minutes today and it cleared out whatever the hell was causing it. The only things that could have even been remotely related are that my knock sensor has been bad for about a month now (replaced last night) and my radiator had a horrible leak for a few month (replaced a couple weeks ago). The vehicle has no known problems as of now, but there's no telling.
