Hey, I'm going to swap my steering wheel with an S2k one, and I'm wondering only now about the cruise. The wiring should be simple, because the controls are the same, right? Both DO have two buttons (or am I losing memory at such a rapid rate that I've forgotten our 4th gens have 3 cruise buttons?) and should therefore use similar wiring ... or do they?
I'm pretty sure the s2k steering wheel doesn't fit 4th gens. I think this has been discussed before, it only fits 5th gens. Anyone wanna back me up on this?
I read a few posts by a 'marcucci' on s2ki.com's forum, and he says basically all (honda steering wheels are interchangeable, but between 4th and 5th gen preludes, you'll wanna match 4WS with ATTS, or reverse, depending on which car the wheel came from and which it's going to, this because of a particular notch that only those two sub-models have on the steering spline or whatever. Otherwise, he said that an S2k wheel can be placed on a Prelude... I hope he's right and you're not, no offense or anything, I kinda bought one a while ago ... doh!
Marcucci posted the same thing here At first he says it will fit, but if you read close to the bottom he updates it and writes "Update: The S2k wheel does NOT fit on the 4th gen. The 4th gen uses a smaller hub size that corresponds with older Hondas (prior to 97 for most models). The above info is ONLY relevant to the 5th gen Prelude and newer Civics, Integras, etc."
That's a sweet wheel, it looks almost as good as the S2k... I don't want to even try and speculate as to the price though... it bears the "JDM" tag, it must be $$$. I'll look into it anyway, thanks, I hadn't even thought about it.
What, you don't need no stinking cruise control...
I dumped mine when I went with a MOMO wheel... oi la la Italian Leather sure does feel good on the hands

yea I too ditched my Cruise Control when I got my Momo, and for a few years now I've done fine without it, but I'm starting to miss it, and have been heavily contemplating wiring it back in and mounting the buttons somewhere.
exactly, it'd be a nice thing just in case... anyway, I had another pm chat with marcucci and he thinks that since those nice Civic Type R and JDM ITR wheels are 96+, they won't fit 4th gens either... doh! Running outta options here.
heh, I'll think about it, I wanted to retain my air bag, and I also really like how the S2k and CTR/JDM ITR wheels looked. Do you have any pics of your momo installed? Thanks dudes, Adam.
yeah, u and me both dude. Dam though, I wish there was an easy way to slap an S2k or even the CTR/ITR wheel on our 4th gens... man, u 5th gen people, get all the perks... vtec by default, new-fangled steering hub sizes, eligibility for parts mugen still actually makes... blahhh
I guess I can lean towards safety more than looks. I feel more comfortable with the SRS Airbag, as opposed to many of the momo steering wheels that don't have that feature. If you are looking for a change of steering wheel, the JDM 5th Gen steering wheel will fit on our gen lude. It has the SRS, but does not have the cruise control. And like someone brought up earlier, the CTR wheel will also fit our gen lude, being that you purchase a hub adapter. It will take some work, but it is possible. I am also here to reinstate that the S2k steering wheel is not compadible with our hub.
Right, the S2k wheel is just like the CTR wheel when it comes to fitting our 4th gens: it'll fit, you just have to weld a hub from a 96- car onto the steering wheel... I wasn't sure if 5th gen wheels would even swap, but maybe that's the one exception, although I don't know how 5th gen wheels can swap, but S2k wheels won't fit 4th gens but will 5th... unless the JDM you mentioned before "5th" actually means that jdm 5th gens used a different sized spline on the steering column.
