Quick question. When I'm driving at any speed over 55, and slow to a stop, my steering wheel shakes like crazy. Are the wheels out of balance or something? I thought that it may be out of alignment, but the alignment is ok. Slightly off, but not enough to cause the shaking I feel. Any ideas?
You're wheels probably need to rebalanced. Same thing happened to me. When you low down and your steering is shaking it might also be that your rotors are warped.

I had the EXACT same problem. Had them rebalanced, figured that would be it, hopped on the expressway and floored it - still wobbled approaching 60. Fed up, picked up a full set of Yokohama tires, had them mounted and balanced. No wobble. I'd try moving a tire, it'll likely be one of the front ones, to the rear and see if it still wobbles. If so, inspect that tire and possibly replace it.

I found a nail in one of my rear tires. Could that have something to do with it? I don't think it's the rotors, the car was taken VERY good care of mechanically before I had it. We'll see, though. Thanks for the input.
I had my tires roated and as soon as i started to drive there was a shake. So then i brought to get the front balanced. Still shaking. So then i had the tires rotated back to how they were. The skake still went on which didn't make sense since that was the oringal position. Then i got the original tires in the front balanced and the shake went away a little but it's still there. Very annoying. I'll just wait till i get new tires.
it sounds like it could be both. it would make sense if your tires were worn unevenly (or unbalanced or not aligned, although you said you did that) to have the shimmy at highway speeds. but then it sounds like it's a case of warped rotors when you get the shakes when slowing to a stop. those are the 2 biggest culprits i see at work. if you haven't had your brakes looked at lately, i would do that as well. amazing how much difference a good resurfacing and a new set of pads can make
Thanks for all the advice, guys. I really appreciate it. This is the only problem I've had with the car since I got it in Feb. The only time I have the shaking is when I stop. At highway speeds, the car has no wobble at all. It's a dream to drive on the open road. I'll take it to a mechanic and have the brakes checked. Thanks again.

Thanks for the info, smart ass......I already said that I was gonna check it out
Actually you said I don't think it's the rotors blah blah blah. I'm not helping anyone anymore. I'll just let you ingrates go and pay hundreds of dollars to find out what the problem is, then pay more money on top of that to get the problem fixed. I'll help people that I know on the board, but other than that...

I agree with Ryan, people come on here asking for help and then you give it to them and they don't believe you or are ungrateful. If you don't want advice then don't post.
It is definitely your rotors. It does not take much to warp your rotors and it has nothing to do with how the previous owner took care of the car. All it takes is for the rotors to cool off quickly while hot. For example:
1. driving your car and taking it to a car wash or washing it your self. The cold water will cause the metal rotor to cool prematurely and warp the rotor because it does not cool in a consistent manner.
2. driving your car through a large puddle. If you are driving along and you ride through a puddle the same applies as above.
exactly why i never reply to threads like this, i looked at the title and could of told you it was warped rotors. the Si rotors are **** IMO and warp all the time, i haven't seen many stock Si's with OE rotors that aren't warped.

New rotors should be coming in soon
Mine too. I've had my Brembo's sitting here for 6 months and hopefully I'll get around to putting them on this summer. My wheel shakes like crazy exiting the highway.
Ok, let me clear something up here. I did want help, or I wouldn't have posted. The reason I called can't drive a smart ass is because he had already posted about the rotors, and I had posted that I was going to get them checked. Then he posts a huge message that says brake rotors. I had already posted that I was going to check them, so the large message was completely uncalled for. I took his over-sized post as yelling, or flaming, so why should I not have been offended? Especially since I thanked everyone for their help, and stated that I was going to check the rotors out.
What Ryan was trying to do is save you some time and money. He posted in a large font because you still seem very skeptical. Many of us have had this problem including myself and I will be correcting my problem within a month with new rotors.
We know the problem is definitely warped rotors and he is just trying to save you money. If you take it to a mechanic or Honda, they are going to charge you $75 to just drive the car into the bay and look at it. They will then add the cost of parts and labor on top of that.
If you are fine paying more money for no reason then so be it.
If your rotors have never been refinished then you can refinish them using an on-car brake lathe. The max refinishing limit for the front rotors are 21.0 mm or .83 inches. If they are below this limit then you will have to replace the rotors.
I apologize if I took the large font the wrong way. I'm not skeptical about it at all. I trust that you guys know what you're talking about. If it's the rotors, it's the rotors. No problem. I can get those fixed. I know how to do some things to a car, but I've never done brakes, which is why I said that I was going to take it to a mechanic. If it was the radiator or the alternator, I could do it, but the only thing I've done as far as brakes is pick them up from the parts store so someone else could do them. Once again, I apologize. Am I forgiven and back in the good graces of the board?
