stealth mode...---

I put back on my stock axle back and left my aftermarket mid pipe on. I like it, its completly stock look from the back, but then I stuff done to engine, so Its like sleeper style. Im sick of people judging cars by the exhaust. Only thing is the stock one weighs way too much, and the pipeing is too small, what can I do.

cut off all the piping going into your stock muffler, and gut it out if you can. Then have a mufler shop fab up an exhuast from the cat-back that'll dump out the side of your car, but have them cut it short so no one can see it!

That's why I haven't done my exhaust yet, I'm looking for one, but I just can't give up the sleeper look, it's so nice and quiet also.
I'm thinking of the rsr also. I heard it's real quiet.

I went with a 2.25" exhaust all the way back, including a Carsound cat, a no name resonator, and a new muffler off a 93 or 94 Mitsubishi Eclipse. The muffler has a 2.25" inlet, chrome tipped dual outlets, and is about half the size of a Prelude muffler. Can't tell any real performance gains, but it has to be better than stock and its just as quiet. Later.

The muffler was $98, Cat-$65, resonator-$45, labor-$60. So... just under $300. Honestly, if I had it to do over again...I would have went 2.5" all the way. That is if I could find a stock muffler that I liked with a 2.5" inlet (which may be hard to find). So, if you think about going this route, I would suggest searching and finding the muffler first because the rest are easy to find. Later.

Doesn't the old muffler restrict so much that it wouldn't be any much of a gain ?? ...

How would that sound btw, quiet as stocK ? (that's my goal .. I'm almost considering going back to stock cuz RSR so $$ )

For those of you that might be thinking of going the route I did with my exhaust...DO NOT get the muffler I did!!! (off a 93-94 Eclipse) Its a dual outlet muffler, but I recently noticed that one of the outlets is a dummy outlet. Therefore, only one 2" outlet is functional and its restricting flow! Later.

get a cheapo dual tip muffler from a muffler shop and have em weld on the stock tips. that's what i did after my stock muffler rusted through. it sounds amazingly good with my aftermarket parts on it, but looks completely stock. its also a lot smaller and lighter than the honda monster muffler. ive received a LOT of compliments on how my car sounds at autox events and even at PNM people were asking if it was stock. car has been running quite well with it and isnt annoying loud, although the header does still make it louder than stock. only downside is that the muffler wont last over a year or so, but at 40 dollars a muffler (which is what i paid), i can afford to replace it that often.

its a deeper tone than stock(mostly due to the resonance of the header i believe)., a bit louder as well... however, its not so loud that it is blatantly noticeable. nowhere near as loud as a "fart pipe" as i endearingly call them, hehe. i like the sleeper stylings of it a lot. and... i dont get a headache on the highway. i tried a "fart pipe" sort of muffler and i hated it, thus the reason for this muffler choice.
