Starts slow

When i bought my car it started real fast when i turned the key, it would just start up after one or two turns know what i mean? Now that i've had the car and driven it, sometimes like tarzan, sometimes nice, it takes a bit longer to start. I was just wondering if this was an early sympton of some kind of big problem or just something that happens.

And i roasted my clutch not too long ago by starting off in second during a race on accident. I've been babying it but i always smell clutch when i get out of my car and twice when i've got on it i got home and popped the hood and there was smoke coming from behind my motor. Just wondering if that was clutch and if my car acting different than usual, being slower, rpms not seeimg as powerful would be another sign of clutch death.

any thoughts? advice?

If the clutch were smoking, I'd imagine it'd be coming out the timing viewing window near your engine-block stamping location. To see if your clutch is toasted, go about 35mph or so, put it in fifth gear, and floor it, if your RPMs raise faster than your vehicle speed then you've got a slipping clutch.

The smoke from the rear of the engine, if I had to guess, is probably oil hitting the exhaust system and burning off. Next time you expect to see smoke and open your hood (this might work better at night) bring a flashlight and poke around for the source of the smoke. Also, check your engine oil level and make sure you're not low asap.

If your clutch is bad, however, your car will be slower (as you're getting slippage), but I don't know what you mean by "rpms not seeming as powerful."
