Starting question

Hey guys...

I just replaced my spark plugs the other day with NGK Iridiums.... the old plugs were Bosch Platinums.

Ok my question is...would there be any reason why the car would take more to start it now?

Its 22 degrees out right now and it took about 3 good cranks to start the motor.

I only have 84k on the car and it usually starts right up. But recently it has been pretty cold.

Any comments?

my issue has always been when the fuel level is low.. it takes a little more cranking.. and when it's full .. it starts up right away.. but i keep thinking to myself that this can't be because the pump is always gogin to prime no matter what

that's what i've noticed though.. fill her up =)

As far as the fuel level issue goes, consider this: Your fuel pump produces a pressure difference, not a constant outlet pressure. If your gas level is high, you have a higher starting pressure, and thus a higher outlet pressure. Hope this makes sense.

the ignition system in a car is designed for a 1 spark per 4 cycle motion.. the only time you would see a differance is if the car demanded it.. i think my teacher told me that most people with the multi- spark ignition system is waisting their money because the car doesn't demand it.. just make sure it's getting 1 good spark to ensure combustion and call it a day.. plus you wear down the plugs faster..hehehe

i don't know how much iridiums are .. but i run ngk coppers in my si and just change them out every 15k

i personally think they are a waste of money. i would rather just save the money use non-iridium and change them out more often b/c i think it's healthier on the car anyhow.

Iridium IX are not that expensive. I noticed a little. Btw, what kind of battery are you using. Some batteries, produce a higher cold cranking amps than others.
