Starting issues+code 12.

the other day after driving my car aorund it wouldnt start it acted like it wanted to but no go. i let it cool down after being all sorts of pissed cuz my car never wants to run right. Today i pulled a code 12 EGR valve. Would this cause my car from not wanting to start once its warmed up? im going go try and cleaning it right now with some carb cleaner and what not.

The EGR sticking could be the problem. If cleaning it out doesn't solve the issue def. let us know since there could be a couple other causes.

^ yah... some people even block off the EGR valve...in a nutshell it's just there to circulate exhaust gases back into the combustion chambers to reduce some of the emissions... Lot of people just block it off. Don't think that would be the culprit for starting issues.

So when you say you have starting issues... does your car even crank or whats the story? Need more details. Having a little hard time trying to read your post hehe.

actually it is....I tested mine in my car by hooking the EGR directly to vacuum at idle and it killed the engine.

oh wow, interesting. So i guess blocking it off is something totally different then? cuz i figured when it's blocked off, its purpose is basically useless anymore and isn't even really being used for anything, as if it was malfunctioning.

Oppps i am sorry. i think I accidently said both sides of the fence.

Blocking it off does NOT cause starting issues. but a stuck open EGR DOES cause idle issues.

sorry for the confusion.
