Sputtering/Stalling

what would cause my car to want to stall and even stall sometimes only when i try to punch it off of 1st , but if i go very very slow off of 1st it wont do it. Sometimes it will throw a cel and rev by itself to like about 2000 rpm and after about a minute or so the cel would turns off by itself and the car returns to normal idle. I've tried checking the cel when it goes off but i get nothing, it doesnt blink. Could it be a sensor? Clogged filter? Clutch going out? Give me some troubleshoots to see whats up. By the way its a h22a on a 93
Thanks Preluders

That sounds like a timing problem. Are you sure your checking the CEL correctly? It should store the code. You should clean your throttle body. Also check your injectors.

timing belt. Like I mentioned earlier. It sound like your TB is off a tooth. That clicking might be pinging.

That plus your dash electrical problem you're describing could be an alternator problem as well. ... check these links out... some are similar to your problem... I came accross these as I was searching because I'm experiencing similar problems, but my diagnosis points more to a faulty ignitor (tachometer fluctuates a great deal).

here are some links regarding similar problems dealing with the alternator:
