Spoon Sports Drain Plugs...

Has anyone ever used them for there oil drain plug and tranny plug? Spoon claims to have a magnetic piece on the tip if the plugs to pick up metal shavings in the engine. Is this worth 50 bucks?

Like someone said, you can buy magnetic drain plugs at your local auto store. Another option is to magnetize yours. And probably your best option is to remove the magnet from an old speaker and stick that to the underside of your oil pan near the drain plug. Remove it just before you drain your oil.

So basically, no I wouldnt pay $50 for a drain plug.

Just go ahead and paint "Spoon" on the magnet before you put it under you oil pan and you'll be all set

A set came in my JDM H22, but I've never seen anything stuck to them.

I have them, haven't drained either the oil or the tranny fluid since installing them though. I did stick the tranny one in, and pull it out and there WAS some metal stuck to the magnet. With the H23, I had some problems fitting the magnet of the tranny plug, it was a bit long, not sure if you h22 guys will have that problem.

I have a set as well (birthday Present) . I've never seen anything stuck to it, but then again I also have four 1" diameter Rare-Earth magnets wraped around my oil filter as well...

The rare-earth magnets can pick up like 10 pounds each..

they are good but the drain plug isnt that big so if there is a big piece of metal it wont stick to it...i took a big magnet and placed it on the inside of the oil pan when i dropped it...so far no metal shavings thankfully
