it's not really for big chunks of metal it'll attract even the smallest shavings that happen by it. Obviously a filter is the most important thing, and I hope no one thinks having one of these plugs allows you to drive at longer intervals before changing your filter. This was one of those stupid "just got my car and I want to buy something for it" purchases, but even so, it's not cool that the magnet just broke like that. I actually think one for the transmission is a good idea. Most of the newer Honda A/Ts have magnetic drain plugs.
