Spoon Front Strut Bar = ARRGH!

I'm about ready to just throw this thing away! j/k Anyways we were trying to install my Spoon front sturt bar today and we're just stumped and need some help. Sorry for the large pic!

The brake line (the yellow arrows) is just in the damn way! And from looking at where the mount should sit, the brake line is DIRECTLY in the way! You can see the bracket in there...and that's about as far as we can get...WTF is going on here! Help!

yes the line is in the way. you have to shave/cut a little of the mounting bracket off. it doesn't effect the rigidity of the bar. thatchmaster and i had to do this to install our spoon front strut bars. also, don't be afraid to bend the line out of the way while you're installing the bar/bracket.

Yeah we were looking at shaving...where exactly did you shave it..on the bottom or on the bracket "arm"?

Because right now it looks like it has to be shaved in two places...obviously I don't want to bend the brake line tooo much and damage so I'm being a little cautious.

Maybe I'll just buy a right hand drive Japanese Prelude and solve all my problems Thanks for the help!

i shaved the corner of the bracket, on the bottom, not the arm that the bar bolts to. there wasn't any other cutting that needed to be done. and that brake line... my dad came out to watch me install the bar and after watching for a while he just said "here.." and bent it out of the way like nothing! my face was like but he assured me that it was fine, and we bent it back after the bracket was mounted.

So you bent the brake line towards the firewall then? Also, no hood clearance problems right?

Tomorrow we're grinding this mofo down...once this thing goes on...it's never coming off!

basically everything is back in the stock location after the bracket was mounted, except for all the stupid wiring harnesses. i took off their mounting bracket and moved them out of the way. and no hood clearance problems at all.

Marsh and I FINALLY finished installing my Spoon Front Strut Bar...

A quick review...

This thing is just SICK, man!

I highly recommend this for a 4th gen. Basically the difference here is night and day. I would always find that under hard acceleration I could feel the outside corner of my car not pulling back in under hard cornering. Basically the front end felt very loose at times. And with my drop I could really feel the bumps in the road on my suspension.

After installing the Spoon Bar I immediately felt the difference. The 4th gen body is not as rigid as the 5th gen (so I've been told) and it shows here:

1. The front end is now VERY solid. No more little shakes and rattles, it feels as if weight (force really) is constantly being applied to the strut towers, car feels "stuck" to the pavement.

2. I don't feel road bumps as much anymore. I'm not sure why but I think it has to do with the Strut bar absorbing the bump and transferring it to the other side of the car.

3. Cornering is ridiculous. A good way to analyze it, is to say that now I can feel my tires responding through a turn...rather than feeling the frame giving out on me.

Now, off to install the rear bar!

Satan Rating (Out of 5 Devils burning in Hell):

I need this diagram. I grinded down all the way to, and some into the weld. The place where the brake line enters from the wheel well is too close to where the mount sits so it is goin to pinch it big time unless I grind down all the way over into the vertical part of the bracket.

WTFFFF!!!!!

I had to grind a tiny bit into the vertical part IIRC, and I also bent the brake line a tad bit out of the way.
