spoon front strut bar

Ok everyone.

Now.. for some odd reason, I can't seem to come a a decent conclusion on this one.

I got my front and rear spoon bars. Rear goes in. No prob.

Front passenger bracket, problem. I know you have to move all the wires out of the way. Did that. Right now, my dilema is, the ABS brake resivoir is in the way of the bracket by about 1/8"-1/4". And I'm trying to figure out what side of a brake line to put the bracket.

I'm considering shaving 1/4" off of the bracket. Woudn't really make any difference other than give me ample clearance. I'm just wondering if anyone else has had a problem with them. I'm mean, there's hundreds of people around that have these (in the US... I know it fits perfectly on JDM preludes), so I'm sure someone knows.

If someone were to happen to post a close up pic (provided they have a front spoon bar) of their passenger mount, that just might help me out a little.

Thanks guys.

-Erik

I can't answer your question, I bought only the rear, but this is also a question I'd like to see answered since I am going to buy the front soon.

i just installed my neuspeed front upper strut bar, with no problems, it was a little difficult to get in, but it didn't hit the abs res or any of the lines. fits prefectly.

oh...where did you get your spoon rear upper strut bar for 160?

My Spoon (Vision actually) bar also has the same problem with clearance. It rubbed slightly against the ABS lines out of the modulator.

Insteading of screwing around with the lines, I just got the trusty die grinder and shaved part of the bracket back.

Ok ok ok. Enough fartin around, I decided to just take the stupid piece to work (mechanic for a Toyota dealership), and grind it down on that wonderful grinder invention thingy.

After that, it went in, no problem. There's no way it would even compromise the strength or functionality of the bracket, so I just did it.

Yay. I have chrome under my hood now... um... bling bling cha-ching?

did anyone try attaching the mounts first? Someone suggested attaching the mounts first, then fitting the bar in after? that might help out...I get my front and rear spoon bars next week so I'll see how it goes...

You have to attatch the mounts first regardless... but that's not the problem. It's the ABS resivoir, and the hose that comes out of the bottom/front of it.

Ahh who needs ABS anyway?

Well I install sometime next week. Maybe I'll get lucky and some leprechaun will relocate my whole ABS thing for me before the install!

I'm debating losing the ABS as well. Damn things just get in the way.

Removing ABS? Is that really a good idea? I mean I've never had ABS in a car before, it's not necessary.

Easy to remove? Possible?

I'd remove ABS if I stopped driving in the winter, and only used my car on weekends in the summer. Maybe it'll happen. Who knows..
