SPOON ECU chip

Hey guys, whats your opinion on those Spoon chips on Ebay? I am thinking about it, but not sure if its safe for the ecu. Anyone with the chip have comments? Thanks!

I have heard they are good...but I think you have to have the JDM ecu for them to work...I'm not sure, but I think thats right!

i dont know if this is anything anyone would want to do but i have an authentic spoon sports ecu and my mechanic (VERY skilled guy....in SCC a while back) said since my car runs so strong that he wanted to borrow my ecu from me and take it to a place where they can get all the maps out of it so they could use that program in the future. so instead of buying those crap-o chips off of ebay you could maybe go through me and i could have it burned with actual spoon programming. i have no idea what it would cost because i never knew anyone who would really be interested but if there are a few people that would want a spoon "burned" ecu, then i could call my shop and ask him how much we could get it done for.

Hmm.......a burned copy of your chip will essentially be the chips they sell on ebay right? Cuz I think they are selling copies of the Spoon rom also. Not sure though. Hey how much did you pay for your ECU?

well im really leary about those chips on ebay....too many people buy them and say they run like absolute **** and run really rich and this and that so i thought maybe some people would rather know they are getting the real deal spoon program.

i payed $100 more for my swap and he gave me the spoon instead of the stock one

I hear ya, you really dun know what your getting when you get that ebay chip. That's a pretty sweet deal for ur ecu. Hey does it come with any stickers on the ecu to distiguish it that its a spoon? Or does it just look like a plan ol' ecu?

Change the ignition timing, fuel maps, rev limits. Your stock settings are "burned in" to a ROM chip. So you reprogram it to get more out of the engine.

4bidden: your Spoon ECU is tuned for what? What modifications was the Spoon car running? Or was the Spoon ECU made for a stock prelude?

yes, it has a spoon sports sticker on the ROM and has "ver. 4" written on the sticker.

i got no f'n clue but it runs like a bat outta hell! it doesnt run that rich for not having cams yet (im sure its programmed to he running some decently large cams) and the timing doesnt seem too radical...i still run pump gas and have slightly advanced timing.

i dunno about spoon..

I have a JUN replica ecu. It seems to run stronger, no rev limit, and vtec at 5600 rpm. I dont like it though, because it riched the A/F out more (than stock) and consequently hurts my gas mileage. Since I drive 100+ mi. a day, I would be willing to sell my jun ecu for $250 shipped if someone wants it. If you are nearby, I will let ya run on it and see what you think.

as for ebay, some are probably good, others may not be. Hard to tell.

I also have a chip I had imported from malaysia, supposedly a custom burn with parts from spoon/mugen. I am anxious to see what it does, but I dont have it in yet.

I see them on ebay for around 20-30 bucks usually. Some people are retarded and bid them up to like 100 bucks, go figure

If you can get one for that money, I'd try it and see what happens. If it turns out to be a load of BS then just throw it away and you've only lost a few bucks. If it works, then you've had a result!
