Recently, my speedo needle has been jumping all the way to 100 as soon as I start my car, and will fluctuate back and forth. It also jumps around when I'm going over 80mph.
Any help? Something need to be replaced? This car has also been wrecked in the front.
I had the same problem on mine (94). I had to replace the speedometer. I replaced the speed sensor but that didn't help. Also depends on what year you have. If it is a 92-93, it could be the speedometer cable also.

What speedometer cable?

Sorry, I just assumed there was a cable on the 92-93. I got my new speedo on ebay for $30 + shipping I love ebay. One other thing, if you do replace your speedo, you can pop the odometer out of your old one and put it into the new one. It's just a little plug-in circuit board.
Originally posted by SlowSi MR. CLIFFORD, is that copper wire under the needle? Can you buy just the needle assembly from the dealer?
I highly doubt it. It is a copper wrapping. I'm almost tempted to say that is the problem. Although not 100% positive. Any Non Electro gauges should have the needles in them. Maybe you can get lucky and score one cheap from a junk yard or ebay. That's where I got my extra one.

Originally posted by SlowSi I'm pretty sure the EL guages have needles like the non-EL, it's just a different needle. What did you mean by this? It's just lit all the time.
Well I didn't know if the EL gauges work the same as the Non EL. I have never had any experience with them. Basically just watch the gauges you get.
