I'm changing my 92 speedo cluster to an el cluster from a 96 automatic. the only problem is whether or not it will work in a manual 92. any info would definitely help. I already have the dash wiring harness for the el gauges and its supposed to swap right out, but will auto speedo cluster work in a manual?
i did search, for hours. the only answers i found were round-about, non-nonconclusive. Thanks for the reply though... good thing the el gauges are smoked, they'll be harder to see.
by the way the little box is actually the inverter, it adjusts the power supply to the el gauges. electro luminescence is kind of like neon bulbs. light is emitted because of the electrical current passing through it. the silver inverter box is the source of the electrical current. i have everything that i need to do the install. and the faqs had NOTHING that i didn't already know. i do know that in the 5th gen ludes there is a problem with transversing the two clusters. the main problem with that is the park sensor. installing a manual gauge in an auto will sometimes keep the car in park unless it is bypassed. i just want to make sure that the auto cluster that i am going to install into a manual is not going to f**k up any of the wiring currently in the car. even though i don't have to worry about the whole park issue i want to make sure everything else will be compatible, ie: turn signals brights, dimmer. i am still waiting on the car to come out of the body shop, i'll let ya'll know how the install turns out.
