spc ball joints

a while back there was a thread on here about spc ball joints one of the members to this board was having trouble with the spc ball joint hitting his upper fender wheel well ... I had no problem with this untill I had my jdm h22a vtec engine installed does the vtec weight more something I am going to have the shop look at but the upper wheel well to the right of the shock tower has dents in it from my upper ball joint spc knocking the sheat out of it I am kinda scared that it if it gets serious then the ball joint and nut could puncture the metal plate and stick which kinda sucks ... so any body have any real good experience dealing with spc ball joints

That was my post, and to this day i still have done nothing to correct the problem. There are markings, but no actual dents, on the inner fenderwell from the top of the SPC ball joints. I have about a 1.5 finger gap on all four corners so if you're dropped lower then that then i would suspect you'd have more trouble.

As is, its relatively rare that i hear the contact while driving. Normally it only happens if i hit a significant and abrupt bump, esp. while turning.

The only possible fix i can think of is to hammer the inner fender well to make extra room or to cut a hole in it completely to allow more travel.

spc ball joints

well i did not start having trouble with it untill I did my engine swap-- I have like a two and half finger gap and still when I hit a deep pothole or uneven road surface hard it bangs the hell out of it ... do you think ing switching back to 16" wheels would help or maybe i have too much air pressure in my tires I think I will try a couple of differnet things

Now if im thinking about this right then regardless of wheel size, the distance between the upper control arm and the inner fender will be the same. The weight of the car pushing down on the springs remains constant in any situation. A bigger wheel would decrease the wheel gap while keeping the constant UCA - to - inner fender distance.

The only way to increase the distance from the UCA to the inner fender would be with an adjustable suspension, which would also increase wheel gap.
