spark plug/wires.. affect?

I'm starting to look into moding my engine, and i've been told that spark plugs/wires actually give some improvement. i'd like to know whether they do *anything* if so, how much of a difference.. New to this so any replies would be appreciated, thx

i have heard before that "honda" plugs and wires are the "best" unless you have heavily modded motor......i would think that NGK would be good.....

Not unless you are FI or Nitrous are you really going to see a difference or if you have an ungraded coil or MSD box you are not going to see better over stock.

BTW welcome to PO.com

Pull a plug and test its gap with a feeler gauge. If its more then .044 (Like .048 or greater) then you should get new plugs.

Wires you take a multimeter and put it on resistence (OHMs) and put a lead on each end of a wire. should be about 600ohms pre foot for a good wire.

no noticeable difference unless your plugs were fouled. Idle may be a bit smoother and if you have any hesitation this may help a little. Not going to feel like you got a new car or anything. Just good maintenance really, not much of a mod for a near-stock prelude.

I always replace the plugs, wires, distributor cap, rotor, timing beld, and do a valve adjustment on all hondas I buy used. It's very good practice and can keep your new purchase in your possession

I have Nologey hot wirers(which give you a 300 times bigger spark when you earth them) and HKS plugs. It all helps burn that fule faster and more efficiantly and I definately noticed a differance in pull-away
