Sound from turning steering wheel to left?

Just yesterday I noticed a sound coming from the engine bay. When I turn the steering wheel (while the car is in motion, driving) to the left I get a sound like metal screeching on metal. It might be a belt.. Any suggestions?

i its a clicking sound then it is more than likely the cj axles/boots to see if thats the problem just turn the steering wheel all the way to one side and there should be a rubber boot between the tire and a rod that makes the car turn. if the boot is cracked or dry rotted or not even there then you need to get it fixed soon.

No, it's a screeching sound. The mechanic couldn't recreate the sound today, but since my water pump's leaking he said it could be the coolant dripping on the p/s belt and causing that sound. But that doesn't explain why it only does it while I turn it to the left or why this just started happening the other day.. My water pump's been leaking for a while.

it sounds like you have the same problem that my mom had on her car. if its not the water pump thing then it might be the idle pully. just a thought.

I vote CV boots... On other cars you can hear it all the time when there's a problem..but on preludes it's usually only when you turn.

Umm.. I am not 100% sure.. but that probably has to do with your power steering pump... when you turn the wheel, it "activates" the pump, the screeching sound might be coming from that pulley.... Also double check you Power Stearing fluid level.. and if it is low fill it up BUT MAKE SURE YOU GET ACTUAL HONDA fluid.... no NAPA crap..
