Sound insulation

The rattling in my car caused by my 12" sub is getting annoying... the rear deck is rattling and the trunk does too. i was thinking of buying some of that "foam in a can" stuff and filling in most if not all the gaps in the areas under the trunklid then dynamat under the rear deck.

any do's and dont's?

how do i remove the rear deck carpet and stuff?

Triple expanding foam can be very helpful if done properly, and horrible if misused. If you want to help sound deaden, first stuff small trashbags between panels, then use the foam to fill those. (make sure you dont over-fill the bags, as the foam expands.) also remember to tie the bags so the foam doesnt seep out. This can be a cheap and effective method of sound dampening, plus its cheap. If you are looking for a product like dynamat, check out this link: www.b-quiet.com its less expensive.

have fun

alright

hmm, good site

i also found these rolls of cork sheets at the auto parts store, u think cutting those out and gluing em to panels can help deaden sound? they were like $2.00 a roll, like 5 square feet each

if you wanted to you could make an outline of the top of your trunk out of cardboard then cut some mdf or particle board the same size and make it so that it covers the entire trunklid.....screw it to the trunklid then carpet it....also if you take some foam padding you can make raised letters or images in the carpet on the trunklid...the added weight should be enough to dampen most of the vibration...plus it looks cool (when done properly)

I tried that spray-on sound deadening stuff. POS if you ask me, just too messy for my liking. Dynamat is the best stuff for me and my 12 incher
