Sorry, I haven't posted in a while...

My car was totaled about 2 weeks ago. I am now without my trusty Prelude. I was on my way home from work at about 3:30pm, I was exiting the freeway at my exit, and I got T boned by an 18 wheeler. His speed was a bit deceptive, and I thought I had plenty of time to get across the road, but I didn't make it. I was kind of concerned that it would have been my fault, but it turns out that the driver was speeding, and was under the influence of a controlled substance. So looks like things are getting better. I managed to walk away from the wreckage with a broken left arm, dislocated hip, and 3 chipped vertabrae in my lower back. I was rather stiff, and sore for a couple of days, but i am getting better. My car was completely destroyed. it was damn near ripped in half. My seat belt tore loose from the mounting location on the floor, and I got shoved over to the passanger seat. I actually got out of the car on the passanger side. Both of the passanger side wheels buckled and rolled under the car from the force, and the car was in the shape of a boomerang. I watched it last week get crunched into a big ball of sttel at the wrecking yard. Even the engine was screwed. The block cracked near the bottom where the oil pan attaches to it, and the head was actually knocked loose, (the 18 wheeler was going an estimated 70mph), so you can imagine what that would do to a little Honda. His insurance company has already made a crappy offer to settle outside of court, If I was completley at fault I would take it, but since he was intoxicated and speeding, I am going to drag his ass through the cleaners. Anyway sorry for rambling, but this medicine really makes me talkative, and there is no one home to talk to. Thanks for the space to talk.

Wow!!! Glad to hear that you are (relatively) okay!!

What car got totaled??

Also, have you heard that I am discontinuing the Prelude project? I am turning it back to stock for use as a daily driver (love it too much to sell it).

So, for my track car, it's going to be an RX7. Maybe not all that reliable, but with some good mods, it can be reliable. 2700 lbs and 350 to 400 WHP.....now that's a fun track car!!!!

Again, glad to hear that you are okay. Any plans for another project car?

Sorry to hear of your misfortunes. At least you have your other cars.

Drinking and driving is bad, let alone substances and an 18 wheeler. Let his ass burn.

Wow!!!

Sorry to hear about your accident.

I am glad that you are o.k. I am sure it could have been much worse, perish the thought.

I hope your healing process goes smoothly.

As far as the accident goes, even if you are partially to blame, if the other driver hadn't been D.U.I. and speeding the accident may not have happened. I have little mercy for ppl who drive under the influence so I hope your court case goes well.

Dr James,

It's nice to hear from you.. it's too bad it had to be under these conditions. Good to hear that you're still in one piece. After having read almost all of the answers that you've posted to questions in the past, I'm not quite sure if this forum would be able to stay on its feet without ya!

I'm not one who would take advantage of the law under most circumstances, and definitely don't look for any way to milk money out of the system, but under certain conditions, reimbursment is necessary (especially for your car and personal injury). This may be to soon to ask, but do you think you'll pick up another 4th gen? You seem to be quite a fan of them ... keep us updated, and good luck to a quick full recovery!

Oh.. BTW, I took your advice and ordered a C&R, they're out of stock so they had to make me a new one.. which of course, isn't ready yet.. but hopefully I can get it this week!

Oh man! I'm so sorry to hear about that. I really hope there's nothing serious with your back, neck or hip... those are just parts of your body you do not want to damage at any cost. Knock on wood.

Hey, Im sorry to hear about your expierence, but at least you are able to recover from such an accident. It's people such as the driver of tha 18 wheeler that make piss me off, Its people like them that take the lives of people just trying to get home to thier familes and friends.

You wouldn't happend to have taken pictures did you? I am interested in seeing just how bad it was.

Take Care,

Holy crap James! Glad you're alright. When I first read this I thought it was the Supra that got wrecked. Either way it's a big loss. Get well soon.

Thanks for the words of encouragment. I am recovering fine, and I will be returning to work in about 2 weeks. I am already up on my feet, and hobbling around the house. Yeah, it was my Prelude that was totaled. It would have certainly sucked if it was my Supra. To answer your question, yes I am certainly wanting to pick up another 4th gen Vtec, Preferably 94, Black Leather, and Azure Blue Green. So, I have been on the prowl online, and in the Local classifieds for a deal. My first court date is in 3 weeks. As it stands the other driver is out on Bail, and hopefully his ass shows up to court. I have already been in contact with his insurance company, and they already made a lame offer. My Lawyer is pursuing other means, to extract more money. All I really want is my car replaced, and pay back for time away from work. But my Lawyer seems to think that I am entitled to more. Anyway, if someone finds a great deal on 94 Vtec, let me know. Thanks again.

James

You'll be up messing around with your toys in no time

Deceptakon is selling his 93 VTEC azure, but I don't think he has leather. It's in great condition.

Yeah, I am sure that this will all heal with time, and I am sure that I will be tinkering with a new Prelude soon. I gotta have the leather in my Prelude, and I need to have a 94-95. I prefer the interiors in those ones. I am not fond of the huge center arm rest in the 92-93 models. I have located a couple of 94 Azure Vtecs, they are both about a 9 hour drive from me. I am thinking about going to take a look at them, once I am able to drive. Hopefully they will still be there when I am ready to buy them.

James, I just found out about your accident...that's what I get for hardly stopping by this part of the board. Hope you're doing OK, and you get some justice against that trucker.
