Somewhat Pissed

Well my car was giving me problems starting when it was already warm, so my dad dropped it off at Honda to have them look at it. They said I needed a new battery ($100), ignition coil, ignitor, some sort of relay, and the diagnostic charge ($65). Total it came out to over $700. Without consulting me, my dad just told them to go ahead on everything. Is it just me, or is that price totally absurd? I told my dad to tell them no, I would pick up the car and buy the parts myself, but he said it was too late. Just had to post to get some opinions....

for starters, you coulda bought a nicer battery for a bit more than $100 or a good one for ~$70 and picked up the parts you needed from the parts classified plus saved on all the labor charges.

That's a lot of flow and you could have saved some money by doing it yourself but there is nothing you can do about it now.

Don't be mad at your father either because he did you a favor by taking it into Honda for you. Obviously if you didn't take it in you were busy and he was nice enough to help you out.

Just a little friendly advice. Thank your pops when you see him. It could have been worse.

Mark

Yeah...I wish I could have had the option on the battery, but they did it for me and to me its not that big a deal.

You are very right. I appreciate him doing it for me very much, I probably shouldn't have given him a hard time about it. He will definately be receiving my thanks later. Thanks for the advice Mark.

No problem. The doctor is in the house.

I just speak from a little experience. My father would do things like that for me and I would react the same way when things didn't go as planned and I would overlook the big picture and forget to give him a little appreciation.

Now that I have moved out of the house you miss what your parents do for you and wish you would have reacted differently in certain situations and that you had them there when you need them.

Glad the Prelude is back up and running well though.

Mark

Dont feel bad, Honda told me that I needed rear brakes, clutch master cylinder, oil pan gasket...etc

All I really needed was shocks, rotors, and engine motor mounts. I always get a second opinion now
