Was someone here going to have their complete dashboard made out of C.F.?

I thought it was here that I read someone was going to have their whole dashboard made out of carbon fiber. I believe you said you had to sacrifice your dashboard for a week so the mold could be made.

Could you please give me some information on this if you don't mind. I'd be interested in this as well and maybe we can get a better price on it if more than one person is willing to buy it.

Thanks!

Mark

It was me that said that I was going to get my dashboard made out of c/f. And I'd have to sacrifice it for at least 2 weeks. The guy is going to charge me between 500-700 bucks to do it. I am trying to get the money to do it now, and I am going to have him make me some door panels and rear panels also, as well as a whole piece to replace the rear speaker tray and run down the back, blocking off the trunk area and over the floorboard(therefore eliminating the rear seats)! I'm not sure how much it is going to cost to make all of the other panels but I am figuring on like $2,000 for all of the pieces.

Matt,

I had no idea that was you who mentioned this project.

I'd be interested in the dashboard and the door inserts. Maybe the center console if the guy is willing to make that as well.

If you don't mind letting me in on your idea, I'd probably go in on it with you. Let me know when you plan on doing it!

P.S. hopefully the lights will get to sometime next week.

Mark

He might give us a better deal on the pieces if he can use the mold for more than one piece. I will try to find out about it OK!

How about a carbon fiber cupholder

I would be interested in the door inserts, maybe when I see pics. I have to replace my center console, but have already ordered the parts.

Nice ride, and how much did your CF project cost for the rear panel?

Pre med, huh? good luck. Are you from THE Rockaway that was involved with the Airbus crash?

...well i ordered 2 11 x Sheets of Carbon fiber at $85.00 per sheet, then i removed the rear speaker panel and traced it over the carbon fiber, I used my dremel and shaved it off, made holes for the speakers and trunk lock key...
so it basically cost 170.00 just for the sheets...
I am actually selling the other sheet, b/c that 1 sheet was big enough for everything i wanted to do...

Umm, Yea this is the same Rockaway involved in the plance crash i live on 113st the plane fell on 129st... put it to you this way my house shoook....

And yea, Pre-Med... ITS KILLING ME!!

Peace,
Jose

tell me about it....i have to write my biochemistry final in about 9 hours. pre-med sucks big time.....

but about the dash, would it be a full replacement molded in?? seems like a lot of work but it would surely set you apart from everyone else. i think the cf door inserts are a great idea....i would jump on that in a second

So the carbon fiber replacemant you made just sits on top of the original rear shelf? I thought you molded a whole new rear piece. Either way, pretty slick.

I remember reading an old artivle in Grassroots Mtorsports where they made a CF dash from scratch, using the original to make a plug. I'll look for it tommorrow.

Stay in school guys. It will definitely pay off. My gils is premed and she is hurting right now.

As you can see I'm laughing about it, I think it is cool that some people want to do something better with their life.
