some suspension help needed

Right now I have H&R Sport springs with KYB AGX shocks. I need a little advice as to what next to upgrade to improve my ride. The roads in New Jersey are BAD. Big potholes give off a loud crashing sound especially in the front end. Any significant pothole pretty much makes you feel like you are falling off a cliff lol. Also when turning on a highway with divots every 20 feet, the car feels very loose and gives off a clunking sound, which is very repetitive. The car drives perfect on smooth surfaces, but as soon as a few potholes come, i hear noises from everywhere in the car.

Tire size is 215/40/17, the initial contact of a pothole feels like it hurts them so much. Also it seems that when I come into contact with a huge bump my dash will shake horizontally a considerable amount.

With those springs and the small sidewall on your tire, bumps are just going to hurt. I have the same problem. Getting a tire with more sidewall like stock (55 series) will help or going back to stock suspension. I don't think there's going to be any aftermarket suspension parts that are going to help as they are all trying to stiffen up the ride, which of course is going to suck over potholes.

Yeah, I had a great feeling my tires are just too thin in general to handle the roads around here. I was just looking at my car the other day saying, Hell I should expect some harsh driving there's only like 2 1/2 inches between road and rim. I'm deffinately planning on getting thick next purchase, I need that padding. Can anyone think of anything that might be wrong or loose?

It's not just how thin the tires are that is affecting your ride.. what you need is a nice coilover setup. I had a Tein Flex Coilover set that was amazing.. and I know you would feel a phenominal difference(I had Koni Yellows with Sportline springs before them and it was night and day). Also, if you're hearing knocking/clunking then check out your balljoints, they could be busted and that will cause clunking. Also check your CV Joints on your axles, that will also cause clunking on turns.
