Solution to our "empty " rear bumpers

I've been trying to do this for the longest time, and i finally got the part to do it today. I remember about a month ago when preludenyc was taking about painting his side trim and someone go into the discusstion about how our rear bumpers look empty. One solution was to paint the rear mudflaps like that one red prelude wiht the painted spoon lip. To me it would only look good from that one agle. ( i would post the pic but i forgot which prelude it was, can someone find it, if they know what im talking about )

So i've been noticing that the 94-95 accords have a decent rear trim. I've been talking to some accord people and finally got one today (in exchange for clearing out their tails)

Its gonna take some customizing to make it fit but im pretty sure it will, the only problem is that now my exhaust is too high, so im thinking about taking off the rubber hanger, heating it, and then streech it out to makit it hang alittle lower. Does anyone think this is a good idea, or if it'll even work?

im pretty sure that 92-95 accord rear bumpers are exactly the same as preludes. i dont think you'll have to custom the molding at all, but yeah your deffinatly going to have to drop the tailpipe a little bit.

hahaa...thats funny! I been thinking too and i came up with the same idea. Two great minds think alike. hehee I bought some accord rear bumper trim a few weeks ago. But i havent had the time to put them on yet. I think it will be pretty easy without much modification.

Also, if you notice..the accord has three pieces in the rear. Maybe you can just use the two side pieces and leave out the center section. So that way you dont have to mess with the exhaust. Or just cut out a little piece so it fits over the exhaust. You will also need to trim the side pieces a little bit b/c its a little too long.

i'll be putting them on when i'm done with finals...which is this week. so i'll keep yall updated!

lol, h23lude, thats cool that you came up with the same idea too.

You definatly have to trim the outer edges caue they're like 2 inches too long, but i as for the exhaust, the right peice barely hits it......I really dont want to cut the trim so i think im gonna try to lower the exhaust but streching the rubber hanger......i hope that works......i just need like an inch clearance...

my finals aren't till the 17 th .... i should be studing but i really want to complete this.....

If your car's really low, I wouldn't paint the mud flaps. You'll probably scrape it. Mine isn't even that low (1.5") and I still manage to scrap the sh*t out of my flaps...

As for lowering your exhaust hanger, that probably wouldn't be the best idea. From my experience, when I lowered the back of my car, my exhaust hanger hung lower and it was rubbing against a bracket for the E-brake. It made a horrible squeeking noise. I would check to make sure it won't rub against anything when you lower the hanger first before you start stretching out the rubber.

BTW, you ship out the jack yet?

you can just buy pieces of thick rubber at any hardware store and cut the holes anywhere you want, most people do it to make there exhaust a little higher, but you could use to drop it down.

Bad picture, but here is mine:

I think it does the job. From the side view it balances out the rear, front the front you cant see them, and from the rear i think it looks good cause it hangs as low as the exhaust (or else it just looks like the exhaust is sticking out.

Im not lowered though, and I could see scraping being an issue, although the rear mudflap does hand as low as some other body kits.

Just my 2 cents.

I think 92silversr is talking about what i was refering to in the very beginning of this thread. I was saying how we were looking for something to complete our rear bumpers...

I was able to get the rear peice on, but i've ran out of the black bolts i have a bunch of the metal clips, but no black bolts ,im thinking about taking some off my front bumper....

I just looked at my can of R81 paint and i got like half left : (.....I gotta paint the rear, one perhaps a wwrs front lip for an integra..... ( i got it for free and i thinking of custom fiting it to my bumper....)

hope i have enough paint....

Now that I see you mention painting the parts to match, I'm curious about my color... Brittany Blue-green isn't quite a solid color and has this glittery effect (as well as looking blue/purplish from some angles and green from most - that what's called a 'pearl' paint job?), does Honda sell the paint in a spray can? I know they sell the little touch-up bottles. And there's a shop I know down here that does color matching spraycans, but don't know if they could match the 'glitter' and that pearly effect...

U might be refering to a "pearl" coat of paint. On the 92-93 milano red preludes, you have the R81 base paint and a clear coat. On the 94-96 milano red preludes there is a 'pearl' in between the base and clear

this might be the case of you prelude too
