soldier with a lude needs help?

I am new to the Honda Lude world. This car rocks, please if you all can help me out. Well here is the deal. I had just bought this car about two months ago and I did not know it had problems becuase I did not know much about Ludes. Here are the problems that I am having. The car really runs rough, when I get on it, it seems to slow down and then it takes off. Like its having a hick up. Also the speedo seems to be giving me freaked up readings. One time I was at a stop light and the gage said 35 and another time I was on the highway and it was reading 120 but I was going at the same rate as all the other cars. I only say that becuase I was not blowing by people. This makes me think that my VSS is really jacked up. Could it be that? The Lude I have is a 94 Si that had a h23 but was swaped out for a h22a vtec. The orginal 5 speed trans is in it (M2S4). The one thing that I did notice is that the ECU is for a AT. could this be a issue? It said 37820-p13-900 551 j-at. I am a real fan of these cars now and would like to fix it up but I was just beat by my buddys stock z24 caviler and I dont see how that could happen. This is why I know their must be a issue with the car. Please help me, also I really dont feel the vtec kick in, is this right? I hear it but really dont feel any pull. Thanks to all that help out.

The car has over 200,000. The car has a engine swap. It had a h23 and now it has a h22a. I dont know what the miles are becuase I bought it like that. I do see that who ever did the swap had put a p13 AT ECU in it. Could this be a problem? trying to get my hands on a P28 but really hard to find one. Thanks for the help and not making fun of my issue with the car.

p13 is the RIGHT ecu for the h22a. usdm or jdm p13 would work for the h22a.
u sure u dont have a p14 ecu instead? p14 is the ecu that goes for the h23.

p28 ecu are just well known for chipping the ecu to put in the h22a, unless thats what your planning on doing.

I have a 96 Prelude s that was OBD2 and i swapped in an OBD1 H22a by myself and i have messed with it a hell of a lot, so i think i can be of some help.

If your car is a manual and your ecu is for an auto, i would strongly urge you to get the P13 USDM or JDM H22 ecu. I believe the pin-outs on the ecu are different as the ecu for the auto has to have more pin outs for the automatic trans. I have the JDM ecu that came with my swap and the only problem with a JDM ecu that they limit them at about 112 or 113 MPH, and the USDM ecu does not.

As for your rough idle, i would first get your ecu. VTEC should kick in at 5400 rpm and should pull till 7,400. 8000rpm is when it will limit

I would clean your IACV (Idle Air Control Valve), that will help alot. It does wonders. Your IACV will be on your upper plenum with 2 coolant hoses on the bottom of it and a 2 pin round connector on the passenger (left side as you are at the front of the vehicle). It has two 10 or 12mm bolts that you will remove, and you will need to remove those two coolant hoses too. When you get that out, take that black gasket off with no damage and save it. Now take a can of brake clean and spray one of the two ports until it comes out clear. Let that completely air dry and put it back together.

I hope this helps.
